Correspondence and papers detailing Adolph Sutro's involvement with San Francisco streetcars, beach improvements at Sutro
Heights (the Cliff House), and road construction. Includes several labor reports, 1890, for work at the beach at Sutro Heights;
typed draft articles of incorporation of the Sutro Railroad Company to operate and construct street railroads in San Francisco;
manuscript specifications for a windmill at the Cliff House; manuscript draft of indenture for a road connecting Clarendon
Avenue and Park Lane.
Contains various printed broadsides, articles, etc., including an official San Francisco Board of Supervisors list of bond
propositions to purchase ocean shore lands owned by the heirs of Adolph Sutro. On the verso of the list of bonds is a map
of the proposed purchase and adjoining lands titled, "Map of ocean shore lands, Sutro Baths & Museum and Sutro Heights." Also
includes three copies of a Nevada Senate resolution commending Sutro for his role in constructing the Sutro Tunnel, a broadside
of a legal notice about San Miguel Ranch, and a political broadside about the ballot choice being between "Sutro or the Octopus.'
